Oct. 29 (Bloomberg) -- Tenneco Inc. , the world's largest maker of automobile exhaust systems, said it will cut 1,100 jobs and close four North American plants and an engineering center in Australia to reduce costs.

If General Motors Corp. acquires Chrysler LLC, it will cost 25,000 to 35,000 jobs at the automakers, according to a Michigan consulting firm.
